DURBAN MPT (POINT TERMINAL) : Feedback on Status of Operations (after severe storm) – 12 October 2017 – 11:55

Dear Valued Customer

This email is sent on behalf of POINT TERMINAL (DRT)

Please be advised that the IT challenges experienced this morning (as a result of the severe storm) at Durban MPT (Point) has been resolved.

Durban MPT (Point) has resumed Container Gate In/Out Landside activities to receive and/or dispatch Containers from Terminal as per approved Cartage Booking Requests. Please follow the standard manual Cartage Booking Process for the upliftment and/or delivery of Containers from and/or to the Terminal. The Terminal will continue engaging the Shipping Lines regarding Import and Export extensions and will communicate these during the course of the day.

DCT PIER1 TERMINAL UPDATE: 12 OCTOBER 2017 – 11:59

DCT PIER 2 WIND UPDATE – 12 October 2017 – 13:16

Dear Valued Customer

Please be advised that Pier 2 waterside is on standby due to wind from 09H45 on 12 October 2017.

Wind speed is recorded between 60 and 70 km per hour.

Rail and Landside are however, still operational.

 

DCT PIER 2 IMPORT EVACUTION TOWER 205: 12 OCTOBER 2017 – 13:30 

Dear Valued Customer

This email is sent on behalf of DCT Pier 2

Please be advised that Pier 2 Landside Operations has resumed at 6h00 today.

Whilst the Terminal is still conducting clean-up operations, there are certain areas that are accessible.

In our efforts to assist with evacuation during this time, transporters are requested to contact the Call Centre to confirm which containers are available before dispatching trucks to the Terminal.

Further updates will be provided for other Towers during the course of the day. Transporters are urged not to send truck for towers that are not clear as this will cause unnecessary congestion.

Weather forecasts predict further gale force winds, delays can be anticipated during this time.
